The Doughboy

The Doughboy is a World War I Memorial purchased by the Onaga American Legion. It's unveiling was November 11, 1920. It originally stood in the intersection of 4th and Leonard streets. In June of 1957 the State highway department was to make repairs to Leonard Street and insisted on the relocation of the Doughboy. They cited the statue as a driving hazard. The memorial was then moved to the Onaga Cemetery. In November of 1992 the Doughboy once again was moved to town and now sits on the northwest corner of 4th and Leonard.
